Frequently
Asked Questions
When should I start dog training?
Right away! The sooner you learn our system the faster you will be able to communicate with your dog to get the behaviors you want. Training a younger puppy is easier; habits (good and bad) can be formed in as little as 2-3 weeks.
As soon as you walk in the door with a new dog or puppy, whether you know it or not, training has already begun. Puppies must be at least 3 months of age before they can begin training
What kind of dog training does Prestige handle?
Our training system uses a balanced approach, which means that we use all forms of reinforcement. We find what motivators work best for your dog because every dog is different! We also offer purely positive training per owner request!
How is training from Prestige different?
We educate owners to think differently about their dog and to understand the relationship dynamic, involved in dog training. Dog training isn’t just an activity, it’s a way of life and a means of communication. We seek to remove the stress and frustration that sometimes accompany dog ownership by actively taking charge of the training.
Our methods work without scaring your dog or resorting to harsh punishment! We focus the training on you — the owner. We want you to understand what methods work, which ones don’t, and why, to help you build a relationship with your dog based on mutual understanding and communication.
What dog training program should I choose?
If you aren’t sure what program is best for the needs of both you and your dog, reach out to us! You can contact us via email or phone to set up a free consultation to meet with a trainer to discuss your goals and a training plan
How do I book a dog training session?
You can call us to set up training or you can book now in your browser. Book now will take you to our customer portal where you can create an account for you and your dog and upload information on vaccinations, waivers, and previous training.
Are there requirements for dog training?
The minimum age requirement for all programs is 3 months. There is no breed limitation and no maximum age. For all boarding and training programs, we require proof of up-to-date rabies, bordetella (6 months), and DHPP vaccines.
